Pastry Chef, JRDN
Studied at: Grossmont College
What is the first recipe you ever baked?
The first recipe I recall baking was Christmas sugar cookies when I was about six. They were a disaster to say the least. It all started off when my cousin preheated the oven, and left a pizza box in there. The entire house room was filled with smoke and set off the fire alarm…It all went downhill from there.
What’s your go-to dessert?
All custard everything! They are so rich and velvety smooth.
What are some of your favorite flavor combinations for baked goods?
Coconut and mango, dark chocolate and salted caramel, brown butter and pretzel.
What inspired you to become a chef?
Seeing peoples reactions when they receive a dish!
What advice would you offer to anyone looking to start a culinary career?
I would advise people to read as much as they can. Also, keep up with current and upcoming trends. Always be open-minded, willing to learn new techniques, and be prepared to be pushed to your limit.
